Here you will find a collection of short videos with a description on some tips when beginning to work with your horse in hand. This is a skill which for some people (like myself) can take some time to master, so be patient and kind with yourself, don’t be afraid to make mistakes and PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE (even if it’s for only for 5 minutes!)
Correct walking position & pace
Your position on the ground and walk pace is key to gain proper balance and alignment of your horse
Firstly make sure you can always see the entire horse, once their head gets past you that’s a big no no
Aim to not get in the way and move TOGETHER
Try your best to match your strides and walk backwards with a relaxed back and hips (this can take time so just practice and you’ll get better!)
